Anisa Noormohamed

Founder, NISI

Anisa Noormohamed is a Pakistani American living in Santa Monica, CA. Anisa started off her career as a Chemical Engineer and later acquired an M.A. in Middle East Studies from the University of Chicago. She spent time traveling throughout the Middle East and South Asia and lived in Cairo conducting her research on Feminism and Modernity in Islam as a David L. Boren fellow. She worked with various NGOs and consulting firms and later moved to the non-profit sector as the Director of Women’s Education and Empowerment.

Anisa founded NISI, a clothing label for the modern Muslim woman that supports educational and vocational projects for girls in the northern areas of Kashmir.
