Anna Sher

Biology Professor with broad interests in how the world works

Dr. Anna Sher is a scientist, activist, wife and mother. She teaches biology and conducts ecological research as a full professor at the University of Denver. Her scientific published works are on a range of topics within botany and conservation, with a particular focus on restoration of damaged ecosystems. Her most recent books are An Introduction to Conservation Biology (Primack and Sher, 2016 Sinauer Associates Press) and Tamarix: A Case Study of Ecological Change in the American West (Sher and Quigley, 2013 Oxford University Press). She and her wife, Fran Simon are known for their activism for LGBTQ equality, and they were the first couple to receive a civil union in Colorado.
