Chris Kempes

Postdoctoral Scholar, NASA/Caltech

Chris Kempes is a postdoctoral scholar at NASA and the California Institute of Technology. He completed his PhD at MIT where he was a NSF Graduate Research Fellow. His research focuses on the fundamental features of patterns found in nature. He holds a B.A. from Colorado College and has conducted research at numerous universities and scientific centers including Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Santa Fe Institute. Chris has been involved in numerous organizations focused on peace, civic engagement, and sustainable planning. He grew up in rural northern New Mexico where he developed a deep appreciation of the natural environment and a belief that a sense of place is important for human happiness.
