Cindy Cook

Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, Cengage Learning

Cindy Cook is Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer for Cengage Learning and a member of the Cengage Learning Executive Committee. In this role, she actively oversees all marketing, communications and public affairs activities within the company.
Since joining Cengage Learning in 2010, Ms. Cook has driven the organization to use modern marketing techniques and tools to ensure that the company exceeds the expectations of its customers. She has transformed the marketing group into one that makes data informed decisions and communicates with customers where and when it’s most needed. Ms. Cook plays an integral role in the company’s transition to digital products. She was instrumental in launching the company’s signature digital platform, MindTap – a revolutionary product in the education space that is beyond an eBook, course delivery platform or Learning Management System, and is the first in a new category of Personal Learning Experiences. MindTap is the cornerstone for Cengage Learning’s overall digital transformation and is truly changing education.

Ms. Cook joined Cengage with more than 20 years of experience in global consumer products at Fortune 100 companies. Most recently, she served as Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer of Vivendi Games, the creator of some of the industry’s largest and most profitable video games. At Vivendi Games, she was directly responsible for the company’s marketing operations and was a member of the senior management team that completed a successful merger with Activision, creating Activision Blizzard, the world’s largest video game publisher. Additionally, Ms. Cook was one of the pioneers in digital music, launching the first commercial download and subscription service at Universal Music Group. Earlier in her career, she held a variety of management roles at Pepsi-Cola, The Seagram Company and General Electric.

Ms. Cook holds an MBA in Marketing from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern Graduate School of Business and a BS in Finance from Lehigh University. She is a member of the Lehigh University, College of Business and Economics Dean’s Advisory Council
and serves on the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA)
Board of Directors.
