Rev. Curt Anderson

Senior Minister, First Congregational United Church of Christ in Madison, Wisconsin

Curt Anderson is the senior minister at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Madison, Wisconsin. Curt was ordained in 1971 in Iowa. He served churches there and in Michigan, Wisconsin and California before returning to Wisconsin and joining our church in 2000.

Curt and his wife, Joan, a public school librarian, live in Middleton. Curt and Joan love spending time with their two grown sons and their spouses, four grandsons and their granddaughter. Curt is an amateur photographer, likes to hike in the mountains, read and he enjoys barbecuing outside all year long, even in the middle of winter.
Curt is a seasoned barbequer, and the five things you will always find in his refrigerator reflect his four-season passion to cook on an open flame: garlic, fleur de sel, homemade jerk seasoning, the ingredients for a great bordelaise sauce and an avocado that will be perfectly ripe tomorrow.

That Curt’s favorite book is The Bible should come as no surprise, and he is constantly rereading it. The best recent book is Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, in which a character says that we are to love people who are unloveable, and thus "show that we participate in the grace that saved us." It is a beautiful line, and it's true.
