Dakota Kim is a blogger for ShoeBlog.com and works as a freelance journalist covering art, fashion, music and news. She spends a great deal of her time describing strappy designer stilettos or chunky wedge platforms, interviewing the genius people who design such torture devices, and trying unsuccessfully not to fall down in them (or even in flats) on New York's cobblestone streets while test driving them.

Kim attended Vassar College, which made her think she should be healing children with polio in drought-ridden, landlocked nations, but she instead guiltily lives a blissful Brooklyn life of music, bikes, circus, barbecue and dogs. She is working on a book about carnies inspired by her time with a circus event production company, and hosts a web show called NY Underwater, about New York's wild underground performing arts scene, which can be found at http://nyunderwater.com.
