Dalal Mawad

Middle East Video Producer for UNHCR

Dalal Mawad is a multimedia journalist. She is currently working as a freelance journalist for Al Jazeera English. Prior to that, she worked as a contributing reporter with the New York Times beirut bureau, covering Lebanon and Syria.
Mawad holds a Masters in broadcast journalism from Columbia University as well as a B.A. in economics from the American University of Beirut and an M.S. in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics.
From 2009 to 2011, she was a researcher at the United Nations Development Program in Beirut, working on Lebanese-Palestinian relations and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. She contributed to the creation of “The Common Space Initiative,” an independent and inclusive dialogue space for Lebanon.
Mawad has published several of her articles in international and middle eastern media . Her article on Lebanon’s Jews was a finalist for the Samir Kassar award for the freedom of the press in 2013.
