Damarys Ocaña is executive editor of Latina, the leading fashion, beauty & lifestyle magazine for acculturated U.S. Hispanic women. She is responsible for guiding the magazine’s content as well as its mission to connect Latinas to their culture. She also oversees consistency of voice and identity across Latina.com, food website
TheLatinKitchen.com, launching in July, and other Latina Media Ventures brand extensions.

Ocaña first joined Latina as associate editor in 2004 and served in various positions including entertainment editor and writer-at-large before launching a freelance career in 2008. She rejoined Latina as executive editor in March.

A seasoned journalist with 16 years experience in print and digital, she began her career as a reporter for the Miami Herald. She also served as deputy editor for Poder Hispanic.

Born in Havana and raised in Miami, she now lives in Brooklyn.
