Douglas Kellner

Douglas Kellner is a media and cultural critic who holds the distinguished George F. Kneller Chair in the Philosophy of Education at UCLA's Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. His work explores the pervasive power of media and popular culture and the relationship between technology, education, and society.

Kellner is the author of numerous books on social theory, politics, history, and culture including C inema Wars: Hollywood Film and Politics in the Bush/Cheney Era (Wiley Blackwell 2010) and Guys and Guns Amok (Paradigm 2008), which takes a critical look at the tragedies at Virginia Tech, Columbine, Oklahoma City and other cases of school shootings and domestic terrorism. He was awarded a Fellowship in 2003–04 from the prestigious Sudikoff Family Institute for Education & New Media at UCLA, which supports the public engagement of outstanding education and information studies scholars.
