Dr. Joyce Liechenstein

Associate Director, Seminary Chaplain, One Spirit Learning Alliance

Joyce has served over 20 years in interfaith education. She has a private counseling and supervision practice and over 40 years’ experience as a minister, counselor, meditation teacher and director of religious education. Joyce holds a Master’s Degree in Religious Education from New York Theological Seminary, received her Ph.D. in Therapeutic Counseling, is a Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York. She serves as a Chaplain for Disaster Chaplaincy Services in New York. For 22 years, Joyce served as an executive in all phases of Human Rights, Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action and Cultural Diversity Training for the City of New York. For two years, Joyce was a consultant for the City’s Project COPE, providing educational and counseling support to City workers impacted by the trauma of September 11, 2001. Member, Board of Directors, Order of Universal Interfaith (OUnI). Member, Spiritual Advisory Board, Community of the Mystic Heart (CMH), Wisdom Keeper, Mystical Christianity, Community of the Mystic Heart. Joyce is the recipient of the 2013 Huston Smith Lifetime Achievement Award for Interfaith Education. Joyce has an extraordinary knowledge of the scriptures of many faiths, an infectious enthusiasm, and a personal presence that embodies universal love in a way that invites everyone she meets to open their hearts and embrace their life more fully.
