Beau Dure is a freelance sports writer based in Vienna, Va. He's the author of Long-Range Goals (a history of Major League Soccer), Enduring Spirit (a look at the first season of the NWSL's Washington Spirit) and Single-Digit Soccer (a plea for sanity in youth soccer). He spent 10 years at USA TODAY, where he covered soccer, Olympic sports and mixed martial arts. Now he freelances on those sports and everything else, from chess to the Flat Earth movement.
