For almost 40 years I have been on deadline, either as a writer or editor of magazines and websites. In 2016 I decided to launch FriendshipDialogues.com, a passion project for me and a community site for women to talk about the power and importance of their friendships with other women and how they cope when that friendship ends. The site was inspired by the death of my best friend Madeleine Moger 13 years ago. The loss of a long-time best friend and confidante is a forever loss; she can never be replaced. I chose to create this site as a way to honor her and all best friends who have been loved and lost. During my career I’ve had a strong interest in issues facing women. I served as a board member for Cybergrrl, a site dedicated to transforming women’s lives through technology; organized and ran a leadership group for women students at Columbia University taking part in a business/tech masters program; and moderated a forum for Women in Technology from 2008 to 2011 at CIOZone, a social networking site for technology executives, where I wrote about the challenges women in male-dominated fields face. I’ve also taken particular pleasure from mentoring women I have come to know in business and in life.
