Experimental social psychologist; author, 'Not by Chance Alone: My Life as a Social Psychologist' and 'The Social Animal'

Elliot Aronson is an experimental social psychologist. Named by his peers as one of the 100 most distinguished psychologists of the 20th century, he has won numerous international awards for his research, for his teaching, and for his writing. He has written 22 books, most recently Not by Chance Alone: My Life as a Social Psychologist (2011) and Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me): Why We Justify Foolish Beliefs, Bad Decisions, and Hurtful Acts (2007, with Carol Tavris). His classic textbook, The Social Animal, first written in 1972, is now in its 11th edition.
