Enrico Tettamanti

Founder, Kamana Sailing Expedition

Enrico Tettamanti, a great sportsman, yachtsman, lover of nature and well respected professional within yacht tourism. At 37, Enrico has already spent half of his life at sea, sailing all the seas of the world, leading cruises and expeditions on every kind of boat. He is one of the world, youngest, yet more experienced Captains, The only Italian Skipper, to have conquered the Poles. Originally from the mountains of Trentino, in Northern Italy, he is equally comfortable at sea, as on the ski. As well as all means of moving in the wind. Thanks to the continuous support from his parents, even in the most risky adventures. At 18 he is already a sail instructor and at 20 he crosses the Atlantic for the first time.

Between 1997-1998, with the cooperation of Fabio Cannavale ( his main business partner), he founded The Floating Village in Venezuela. Built entirely on boats, the village is the first of its kind in the world. In 2000 he starts building his own boat, a 54’ sailing yacht, (predecessor to the Kamana 72’ Solaris), and in 2002 he sat sail in the Northern Atlantic, facing one of the worst storms ever. Since then, Enrico has been touring the world and has doubled Cape Horn several times, reaching the Antartic.

His outstanding ability in shipbuilding and mechanical maintenance, is a guarantee for maximum safety on board.

This experienced maverick seaman is the mind behind Kamana Sailing Expedition. A unique opportunity to promote a scientific endeavor, through travel and adventure. Environmental awareness and biodiversity preservation lie at the heart of the expedition. Whose main focus is to enjoy and understand a great variety of secluded locations over an unprecedented five-year voyage around the world. From tropical latitudes, to the Poles. Away from the popular routes between polar bears and the indigenous tribes. with a particular attention to the most unexplored places on Earth.

It’s a non profit charter, expedition style. Part of the proceeds will be donated to projects of sustainability and environmental protection of the locality we're going to touch. Encouraging the participants to do the same.

Participants can hop on and off Kamana wherever they choose, like in a NY bus. Or follow the progress through the website as the Kamana crew, sails from the Mediterranean to Greenland, Alaska, the Galapagos Islands, Patagonia, Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope.

On board with him his wife Giulia, excellent chef and photographer. Always ready to capture a special scene or create one of her famous dishes.
