Fiona Dawson is Director and Producer of Transgender, at War and in Love, commissioned by The New York Times and creator of the media project TransMilitary, which contrasts the lives of U.S. transgender military personnel serving under the threat of discharge, with their U.K. counterparts who have served openly since 1999. Fiona has previously filmed stories in India on sex trafficking, prostitution and HIV/AIDS. She hosted segments for HereTV during the Republican and Democratic conventions, she is published in Curve magazine, FTM Magazine and The Advocate, and has a blog on The Huffington Post. A British native and American immigrant, Fiona has a BSc in Psychology from the University of Essex, U.K. Fiona was the 2010 Houston LGBT Pride Parade Female Grand Marshal, she has served on the National Board of Directors of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and is currently on the Board of Directors for the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA). Fiona is an independent consultant for the soft-skills training company The Leader's Institute. She resides in the Washington D.C. suburbs of Silver Spring, Maryland with her rescued pitbull-boxer mix, Maizie Rai.
