Swami Tripurari devoted his youth to the pursuit of transcendental knowledge and mystic experience. His lifetime of spiritual practice and teaching has brought him notice in spiritual circles around the world and earned the appreciation of scholars and practitioners alike, helping both apprehend more clearly the dynamic nature of the tradition of Gaudiya Vedanta.
Among the books Swami Tripurari has published are a study of Jiva Gosvami’s Tattva Sandharba, Sri Caitanya’s Siksastakam, and and Gopala-tapani Upanisad. He has also published Bhagavad-gita: Its Feeling and Philosophy, which Yoga Journal dubbed "Gita of the Year" in 2001. Swami Tripurari’s Aesthetic Vedanta was nominated for the Louisville Grawemeyer Award. Klaus K. Klostermaier of the University of Manitoba made the nomination. He wrote that “Aesthetic Vedanta’s beautiful and sensitive language will make the classic rasa-lila accessible to students of spirituality who have no specific background in Indian religions and philosophies. Its reverential approach makes it a religious classic in its own right.” Yoga Journal opined that the book illuminates “the profundity and practicality of the path of devotion.” Huston Smith wrote about his book Rasa: “This is perhaps the most helpful exposition of the bhakti tradition that has come my way. Thank you for writing it.”
His most recent book, Sacred Preface, is a modern interpretive commentary on the auspicious invocation of Krsnadasa Kaviraja’s Sri Caitanya-caritamrta. Steven J. Rosen, editor in chief of the Journal of Vaishnava Studies comments that, "Swami deftly elucidates what is arguably the most complex if also sublime of Vaishnava texts, Krsnadasa Kaviraja Goswami's Sri Caitanya-caritamrta. It is truly amazing what nectar he draws out in this book about Kaviraja Goswami's Preface." Edwin Bryant, Professor of Hindu Religion and Philosophy at Rutgers University, describes Sacred Preface as a "welcome addition to this intellectually vibrant tradition ... bringing in voices from contemporary fields of science and other modern intellectual traditions."
