Gabil Sultanov

Filmmaker, foodie, political junkie

Like many Angelinos Gabil is a transplant, but a transplant from a far away land in Southern Caucasus, the shore of the Caspian, a land called Azerbaijan (Not to be confused with Azkaban). It's a Soviet Country only two people heard of. And you know you live behind the Iron Curtain when you get to see Star Wars: Episode III in 1996 for the first time.
He finished high school and moved to US in 2001 to pursue filmmaking. After surviving the culture shock of living in Louisiana and Texas he was ready to move on. In 2008 he got accepted to USC’s Film/TV Production MFA program and moved to LA. Thankfully he graduated relatively quickly in 2011 with his desire to direct intact. Few months after graduating he won the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Production Grant to direct the short “Visible Proof” which he also wrote. The film is now completed.
