Gian Maria Milesi-Ferretti is Deputy Director in the Western Hemisphere Department of the IMF and mission chief for the United States. He was previously an Assistant Director in the IMF’s Research Department, with responsibility for policy analysis and research on global imbalances and international capital flows, as well as exchange rate assessments for major advanced economies and emerging markets. Since 1996 he is a Research Fellow of the London-based Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR).
