Helane Fronek, M.D.

Helane Fronek MD, FACP, FACPh initially practiced internal medicine and entered the field of phlebology, the treatment of venous disorders, in 1985. Since then, she has been an integral part of the development of this new medical specialty. Dr. Fronek is a past president of the American College of Phlebology, the largest medical organization devoted to vein care. She is a respected speaker and educator in all aspects of diagnosis and treatment for venous disease and communication in the medical arena. Dr. Fronek was the first recipient of the American College of Phlebology’s prestigious Leadership Award and the Chair of its Leadership Development Advisory Committee. Board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Phlebology, she is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UC-San Diego School of Medicine, where she teaches medical students the practice of physical examination, a variety of clinical subjects, as well as the art of medicine including such topics as communication, ethics, and professionalism. Dr. Fronek has dedicated her clinical career to providing technically excellent and compassionate care to her patients and to inspiring and teaching the next generation of physicians. She holds both the Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC) and Physician Development Coach certifications from the Coaches Training Institute and the Physician Coaching Institute and coaches physicians who are struggling with the many changes in healthcare or who simply want to find greater balance in their life. She is a regular contributor to Vein Magazine, San Diego Physician magazine, and the American Medical Women’s Association blog. Helane is passionate about helping her clients, most of whom are women physicians, find greater joy and fulfillment in their lives.
