Author, ‘Muslim Women Reformers: Inspiring Voices Against Oppression’

Dr. Ida Lichter is a psychiatrist who has spent most of her working life in the U.K. and Australia. Ida Lichter is also an internationally known writer and commentator on women's rights in Islamic societies. Her book, Muslim Women Reformers: Inspiring Voices Against Oppression, is a standard reference in many American universities. The book contains profiles of about 100 reformers. For many years, she has been involved in classical music as joint founder and director of a chamber music festival, and has written on the social function of music in her book, The Secret Magic of Music: Conversations with Musical Masters by Ida Lichter (Author), Evgeny Kissin (Foreword).
