Jane Vandenburgh

Critically acclaimed novelist and writer of books of personal nonfiction

Born in Berkeley, Jane Vandenburgh is a fifth generation Californian, who came of age during the cultural upheaval of the 1960s. Her fiction and non-fiction are both concerned with changes in staunchly held beliefs regarding privilege based on class, caste, ethnicity and gender, specifically the status of woman and girls. She'd published two critically acclaimed novels -- Failure to Zigzag and The Physics of Sunset. Her books of memoir include A Pocket History of Sex in the 20th Century. Her new novel, The January Man, will be published in the winter of 2018.
