Jessica Vasquez

Progressive nonprofit worker

Jessica Vasquez is a Latino Chicago native. She grew up in the northwest side of Chicago and was raised by strict, well-meaning, Colombian parents whose pastimes included lectures on the evils of R-rated movies and dressing up their two daughters like prairie girls on picture day. Her older sister is her roommate and she works for a national progressive nonprofit. She is passionate about the pursuit for racial justice. She believes that the politics of race are embedded in our everyday interactions, local and national politics, as well as pop culture.
