As a journalist, I have written and edited for several national and international magazines, including People, Newsweek and Life. I have also written for British and French travel publications. I was the Los Angeles bureau chief for Life magazine before that late, great publication folded. A story I wrote for People was made into an NBC movie-of-the-week called "The Taking of Flight 847: The Uli Derickson Story." I was the executive producer. The movie received five Emmy nominations, including best picture, best director and best editing. Currently, I devote most of my time to travel writing. I have visited over 60 countries and have a long list of those yet to see. I am a regular contributor to TravelAge West, the largest magazine and website for travel agents and tour operators in the western U.S. I also have written for Marin Magazine, Modern Luxury and Santa Barbara, among others.
