Joel Connable

Travel journalist, airplane enthusiast and dog lover

You never know if Joel Connable’s travel stories are seen through his eyes or Lola’s.

Lola, his dog, has been tagging along on Joel’s trips around the world for five years and she has a nose for travel as well. Joel and Lola have traveled more than 135,000 miles together.

Lola’s nose is quite important when Joel is traveling, since Joel is a Type I diabetic and Lola is trained to alert him when his blood sugar gets low. When Joel checks in for a flight, the gate agents often greet Lola first since she is definitely the cuter of the two.

As an Emmy Award winning television news anchor and reporter who spent more than a decade working for CBS in Los Angeles and South Carolina as well as NBC in Miami and New York, Joel has a nose for the travel deals you may have missed. He avoids the well known web sites to find information about travel deals that are sometimes amazing.

Joel says he lives vicariously through himself. Before he went into
television, he worked as a New York paramedic for the Nassau County Police Department on Long Island. He is also a former private pilot and still enthusiastic about anything that has to do with airplanes. You can see many of Joel’s best travel deals and articles on his web site at www.travelnewsanddeals.com. You can contact Joel by sending an email to joel@travelnewsanddeals.com.
