John Howard, M.D., is the Director of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Howard also serves as the Coordinator of the Department’s World Trade Center Health Programs. Dr. Howard was first appointed NIOSH Director in 2002, served until 2008, and was re-appointed by Secretary Sebelius in September 2009.
