Jo-Marie Burt is an educator, writer and human rights activist. She teaches political science and Latin American Studies at George Mason University, and is a Senior Fellow at the Washington Office on Latin America (WOLA). She worked for the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission and was an international observer to the Fujimori and Rios Montt trials. She is currently a research consultant for the Open Society Justice Initiative and tracks war crimes trials in Guatemala for their blog, International Justice Monitor (ijmonitor.org).
