Josh Swiller, deaf since age 4, is a bestselling author and an award-winning journalist. His first book, The Unheard: A Memoir of Deafness and Africa was published in 2007. He has had a wide variety of careers, including forest ranger, raw food chef, sheepskin slipper salesman and Zen monk.
