Judith Blau

Judith Blau is director of the Human Rights Center of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

Judith Blau teaches at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she is the chair of the undergraduate Social and Economic Justice Minor. Her book, Race in the Schools, received the 2005 Oliver Cromwell Cox Award given by the American Sociological Association. She has published a trilogy on human rights with Alberto Moncada: Human Rights: Beyond the Liberal Vision (2005), Justice in the United States: Human Rights and the US Constitution (2006) and Freedoms and Solidarities: In Pursuit of Human Rights (2007); and is co-editor with Keri Iyall Smith of Public Sociologies Reader. She is the president of Sociologists without Borders-US and co-editor of its affiliated journal, Societies without Borders: Human Rights & the Social Sciences.
