Julie Lee

Vice President and National Director, AARP Driver Safety

Julie Lee is the Vice President and National Director of AARP Driver Safety, providing enterprise-wide direction and leadership for the second largest program within AARP, and the largest driver improvement course designed for drivers age 50 and older. In this role, Julie directs staff and more than 6,000 volunteers to plan, develop and execute strategies to drive social change and support AARP’s social impact agenda. Julie works to drive efficiencies and improvements to modernize operations, and explores opportunities to increase volunteer satisfaction and involvement in AARP’s social impact and member value agendas. She regularly represents AARP to national organizations, businesses and trade associations, and manages partnerships and coalitions to advance the issue of driver safety and broader transportation and mobility issues.

Prior to her role with AARP Driver Safety, Julie served as the Director of Board Support for AARP Financial, where she provided oversight service and support to the AARP Financial Board and the AARP Funds Board. Prior to that, she was responsible for managing a service delivery team in Human Resources for AARP.

Before joining AARP in 2003, Julie spent more than 10 years with the Defense Intelligence Agency as their Branch Chief for Staffing and Recruitment. She retired from the Air Force Reserves after spending 16 years in the reserves as a Transportation/Logistics Officer.
