Program Supervisor of Media and New Media, Detroit Public Schools

Kaniqua Daniel is the Program Supervisor of Media & New Media for Detroit Public Schools.  With nearly a decade of experience in media relations, Kaniqua is a former news reporter for the Oakland Press where she provided news coverage of Pontiac City Government, as well as general community news throughout Oakland County including schools, police, and courts. Prior to joining the DPS Communications Team, Kaniqua was the Communications Specialist for POH Regional Medical Center in the Marketing Department/POH Riley Foundation office.  Her primary role with the department included media relations, as well as managing and creating marketing material for the hospital and foundation events.  She also assisted with coordinating special events to benefit the POH Riley Foundation.  In her spare time, Kaniqua teaches a Creative Writing Course at Oakland University seasonally for at-risk high school students from Pontiac and Oak Park. She is also working to obtain a master’s degree in Public Relations from Wayne State University.
