Kate Moynihan

Kate is known for delivering resourceful, impactful solutions and programs that are grounded in strategy and stand the test of time. Her work continues to influence models for development in the former Yugoslavia, Albania, the Middle East, and the former Soviet Union.

In her most recent role as Chief Development, Communication and Innovation Officer for Goodwill Industries of San Francisco, Kate led the design and development of a city-wide coalition that won a $5M National Demonstration model for Workforce Development. Kate secured this award through negotiations that won the support of city officials, service providers, agency leaders, and community representatives attracted to her model of addressing the principle threats to dignity for the unemployed. At the time of its implementation, it was one of only sixteen demonstration models nationwide.

In addition to her work with the largest social enterprise in the SF Bay Area, Kate was also the lead architect of ground breaking post- complex emergency programming in the areas of trauma recovery, parent school partnerships, micro lending and “right to return” programs to assist refugees displaced by regional conflict.

Kate earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s Degree from George Mason University. She has represented her teams and organizations on national and international television and radio, as well as conferences and panel discussions such as the PEW Foundation, Harvard University’s “Do No Harm”, and the King Baudouin Foundation. Raised in Massachusetts, Kate now resides with her daughter in the San Francisco Bay Area.
