Ken Carbone

Co-Founder, Carbone Smolan Agency

Ken Carbone is an artist, designer, musician, author and teacher. He can't spell, can't type and only learned to swim after he turned fifty. He's never won an Oscar, never watched the Simpson's and secretly loves opera.  He is a founding partner and Artist-in-Residence at the Carbone Smolan Agency (CSA) in New York City. The agency’s client list includes: W Hotels, Dale Carnegie, Credit Suisse, Taubman Centers, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Canon, Christie’s, Knoll, Ken Burns Foundation, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Corbis Images, Architectural Record magazine and renowned institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles and the Musée du Louvre. . He frequently speaks about design and visual communication at design conferences and has lectured at top business colleges, design schools and art institutions. He is a professor in the MFA Program and Branding Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He is a design blogger for Fast Company magazine and The Huffington Post. Ken and his partner Leslie Smolan are recipients of the 2014 AIGA Medal. However, he says he might give it all up to play guitar for Nora Jones.
