Kristen Psaki

Kristen Psaki is an independent videographer and photojournalist on the ground in the Gulf. She is a co-founder of The DC Project, a non-profit with national reach working to advance economic and environmental justice by creating clean energy career opportunities for people who need them most.

Kristen began her organizing career as a field organizer for the Obama for America campaign three weeks after graduating from Davidson College in May 2007. After learning about the theories behind community organizing, Kristen soon committed to the idea that real, sustainable change grows from the bottom up and often starts with the sharing of personal stories. During the general election, Kristen pursued online organizing as the Florida New Media Director where she directed and managed a state web page, internal and external social networks, a text message program and a team of new media gurus.

After co-editing four “Seat At The Table” videos with the Presidential Transition Team, Kristen joined Energy Action Coalition’s PowerShift09 Internet Team in February 2009 and created the most watched video of their season. Throughout her post-campaign exploration Kristen developed a New Media curriculum for the Institute for Public Leadership, a YWCA backed training program for prospective women candidates and campaign managers. In May 2009 she co-lead a four-day training of the full curriculum for the Jamaican Women’s Political Caucus in Kingston, Jamaica.
