Laura Avery

Laura has been manager/supervisor of the Santa Monica Farmers market program since October 1982, one year after the market opened. Santa Monica is one of a handful of city-operated Certified Farmers Markets where community service and support of California's small family farms are primary objectives. Laura can be heard each week on KCRW's (89.9 FM) "Good Food" radio program interviewing farmers and chefs about what is best at the market and how to prepare it. She was acknowledged by Los Angeles Magazine in 2006 as one of the "hundred most influential people in LA" and has been a leading figure in the farmers market scene in Los Angeles for many years.
