Executive Director, PhilanthroTravel, Project C.U.R.E.

Leanna Clark helped to found and now serves as Executive Director of the PhilanthroTravel Division for Project C.U.R.E., an international nonprofit based in Denver that delivers medical supplies and equipment to developing nations worldwide. In this capacity, Leanna engages groups of philanthropists in trips to many of the countries helped by the organization. In 2010, she’ll travel to Cuba, Mexico, Belize and other developing countries in support of Project C.U.R.E.’s efforts to save lives and involve others in helping those in need.

Much focus of the division thus far has been on the island nation of Cuba, to which Project C.U.R.E. has a humanitarian license to ship and visit legally, within the confines of the embargo. In the past two years, Project C.U.R.E.’s PhilanthroTravel division has taken five groups to Cuba and is in the process of sending its 12th, 40-foot cargo container of much needed supplies to the country. This effort equates to nearly $5M in medical supplies and equipment delivered to hospitals and clinics in rural areas of Cuba thus far. Each PhilanthroTravel trip is structured so that trip-goers contribute a donation toward a container of medical supplies and equipment, then pay their own costs associated with travel.
