Leona Palmer

Ex-model, current farmer and writer

Leona Palmer was a native of rural Wisconsin before becoming a time-tested New Yorker.

After having received her bachelor's degree from New York University in Literature and Creative Writing, she was discovered on the sidewalk and offered a modeling contract.

Leona modeled professionally for eight years represented by Ford and Wilhelmina; landing some of the most coveted modeling jobs in the fashion industry. Working in fashion inspired her to explore issues of Women's Health, Media Representation, and Sustainable Living. Recently called back to her 'roots', as it were, she left the big city to take up an internship on Newton Community Farm, a small non-profit CSA outside of Boston. A place where she can try her hand at growing agriculture while evolving her understanding of health and well-being in our society and culture.

Leona is a regularly featured contributor to HandpickedNation.com and to Madisonplus.com, a news and fashion blog. She is currently working on her first novel as well as a non-fiction exploration of death and grieving.
