Lisa Helfend Meyer is certified as a Specialist in Family Law by the Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California. Her unique blend of experience, interest and expertise is in all areas of family law. Ms. Meyer is a strong advocate for the rights of children as well as for the rights of parents. She is highly regarded as an expert in move-away cases; contested adoptions; non-marital parental disputes; child abuse; parental alienation syndrome; visitation disputes; attachment theory and appropriate time-share arrangements for young children; drug and alcohol dependency; and children with special needs.

Lisa Helfend Meyer received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1989. In 1982, she graduated from Loyola Law School. She was a member of Phi Delta Phi, the national legal honor fraternity.
Ms. Meyer is founding partner of Meyer, Olson, Lowy & Meyers, which specializes in all aspects of family law, including marital dissolutions; property characterization, valuation and division; child custody; spousal support; paternity; same sex relationships which involve palimony and/or child custody; guardianship; contested adoptions; prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements. The firm’s clientele includes members of the entertainment industry, sports figures, business managers, entertainment/sports agents, corporate CEOs, doctors, judges, attorneys as well as non-professionals.
Ms. Meyer has been published extensively and lectures frequently before professional and academic audiences, and was a consultant to the highly regarded television show Family Law. Ms. Meyer has been interviewed by the Los Angeles Times, Court TV, Extra, Fox News, as well as other media and was featured in an hour long segment of 48 Hours regarding a complex contested adoption matter. Ms. Meyer was also named one of the top 50 divorce attorneys in Los Angeles in the Los Angeles Magazine.
Ms. Meyer has co-authored numerous articles regarding child custody proceedings, the conflict between Dependency Court and Family Law Jurisdiction, and obtaining discovery from third party corporations. She also conducts “workshops” for the layman regarding divorce, paternity, child custody and prenuptial/postnuptial agreements.
Ms. Meyer is a member of several professional organizations, including the State Bar of California; the Los Angeles County Bar Association; Beverly Hills Bar Association; Century City Bar Association; California Association of Family Law Specialists; and the National Organization for Women.
In the area of community activities, Ms. Meyer devotes her time to children’s issues such as special education and other matters which complement her professional interests and expertise.
