Lisa Sugar

Founder and president, POPSUGAR. Author of "Power Your Happy"

Lisa Sugar is a new media pioneer. Her love for pop culture inspired her to start writing a blog as a creative outlet after hours and on weekends in 2005. Within a year she had 1M readers, and decided to join forces with her husband, tech and e-commerce exec Brian Sugar, to transform her passion project into POPSUGAR, the digital media company it is today. Thanks to her vision and drive, as founder and president, POPSUGAR is now the No. 1 independent global media and technology company for women, known for its premium editorial and video content. Lisa oversees a team of 100+ content creators who inform, entertain, and inspire action across entertainment, fitness, fashion, beauty, food, romance, parenting, careers, news, Latina and more. Every month POPSUGAR attracts a global audience of over 100M, 2.4B content views and 250M video views. Lisa is also the creator and curator of POPSUGAR Must Have subscription boxes, delivering her favorite finds to over 30,000 subscribers. Her first book, "Power Your Happy", published by Dutton in September 2016, details how she started POPSUGAR and outlines her “work hard, play nice” management style, as well as lessons learned from mentoring a large and diverse staff. Prior to POPSUGAR, Lisa served as a media planner at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners and at Young & Rubicam and began her career at Showtime and Fox. Lisa graduated with a degree in psychology and English from The George Washington University. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, three daughters, and Jack Russell Terrier.
