Maiya Zwerling is the Middle East policy assistant for the Friends Committee on National Legislation, a Quaker lobby in the public interest based in Washington, D.C. She lobbies in support of a negotiated settlement to the Iran nuclear standoff and to promote a peaceful resolution to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. She grew up in a tight-knit Jewish community in Portland, Oregon.
