Maria Cristina H. Oñate is a mother to a three-year-old boy and lives in Metro Manila, Philippines. She works for Save the Children as a project coordinator of a maternal, newborn and child health and nutrition initiative implemented in an urban area in the northern part of Metro Manila. Passionate about women’s and children’s issues, Oñate has been involved with non-government organizations for more than a decade with a focus on advancing children’s and women’s rights, including a landmark law that addresses preventable maternal and newborn deaths in the Philippines.
