María R. González is a staff writer at Latino Victory Project, where she writes content to highlight issues that affect the Latino community. Before working for Latino Victory Project, González worked for the U.S. House of Representatives’ Texas 28th Congressional District. She was also a reporter for The Rio Grande Guardian, an online political news publication specializing in Texas politics. She covered United States- Mexico border issues including border security, trade and business, and education. Gonzalez obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Texas A&M International University and a Master of Arts degree in mass communications from Texas State University. She lives in Washington, D.C., and is owned by two black cats, Kikki and Raspas.
