Mark Blyth

Professor of International Political Economy in the Department of Political Science at Brown University

Mark Blyth is a Professor of International Political Economy in the Department of Political Science at Brown University and a Faculty Fellow at Brown’s Watson Institute for International Studies. He grew up in Dundee, Scotland. Mark received his PhD in political science from Columbia University in 1999 and taught at the Johns Hopkins University from 1997 until 2009. His research draws from political science, economics, sociology, complexity theory and evolutionary theory, and focuses upon the politics of ideas, institutional change, finance and financial markets. Mark is currently working on a book for Oxford University Press called "Austerity: The History of a Dangerous Idea".
