Mark Rosenman is a Professor Emeritus at the Union Institute & University where he long served as vice president for social responsibility. A leading nonprofit sector activist and commentator, he sees his 30 plus years of applied research and other work on the critical strengthening of charity, philanthropy and voluntary action as an extension of his earlier professional efforts in the civil rights movement, urban anti-poverty work, international and domestic program development, and in higher education. He believes that a vital charitable sector is essential to democracy and the common good.
