Martin Santos

Director Fundación Buen Gobierno

Born in Bogotá, Colombia 1988. Raised in a family with a strong passion for journalism and politics. In fact, his family used to own a newspaper in Colombia up until the moment his father won the presidency of his country, time in which they were required to forfeit their participation in the newspaper. During the presidential campaign in 2009, Martin had an active role in social media strategy while leading his father’s young group of supporters across the nation. For the reelection campaign in 2014, he was one of the campaign’s Directors.

Martin studied law and governance at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, a career in which he could combine and develop both of these areas that he unavoidably inherited. Later, in early 2012 he joined the United Nations in New York where he worked as an advisor for the Security Council UN dealing with the world’s most pressing matters.

Martin then moved to Miami to work for Merrill Lynch as a private banker. After that, he left in pursuit of exciting and challenging horizons. It didn’t take long before he joined the abc* foundation in 2013, a think-do tank that identifies and supports high-impact initiatives and leaders in the Americas striving to promote peace, sustainability and prosperity. Currently he serves as Executive Director of the “Buen Gobierno” Foundation, a 20-year-old think tank dedicated to strength the link between the private and public sector.
