Wildlife ecologist, biodiversity policy expert, photographer

Dr. Mary Rowen is the Senior Biodiversity Policy Advisor in USAID's Bureau for Economic Growth, Education and Environment, Office of Forestry and Biodiversity. Mary coordinates USAID's programs on combating wildlife trafficking and is the USAID technical lead on the President's Task Force on Combating Wildlife Trafficking. She is an wildlife ecologist and also works on community based natural resource management and landscape conservation. Mary received her doctorate from The Yale University School of Forestry and Environmental Studies focusing on conservation of the endangered Grevy's zebra. She continued her focus on wildlife conservation for her post-doc fellowship at the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research. Mary began at USAID in 1997 as an AAAS Fellow.
