Matthias Paul Kuhlmey, Executive Vice President Head Enterprise Investment and Acquisitions, Head Global Investment Solutions Matthias Paul Kuhlmey, Executive Vice President at HighTower Advisors, brings over 25 years of international banking and investment management experience to the firm. Mr. Kuhlmey founded HighTower’s Global Investment Solutions (GIS) department in 2011 delivering investment research, analytics, due-diligence, and access capabilities for advisors. Since that time, GIS has expanded its capabilities further to include trading, lending, trust services, corporate services, and retirement plans. As of 2016, Mr. Kuhlmey/GIS team added a new firm business line, RIA Acquisitions, to expand HighTower’s brand beyond the traditional wirehouse break-away model and onboard independent RIAs to the existing full-scale platform. Mr. Kuhlmey joined HighTower from UBS’s prestigious Private Wealth Management Office in New York. Prior to this position, he oversaw the New York-based Domestic Private Banking Team at Bank Julius Baer. While with Deutsche Bank AG in New York, Mr. Kuhlmey advised private banking and corporate clientele and was actively involved in projects leading to the integration of Bankers Trust Co. into Deutsche Bank’s U.S.-based operation. At Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in New York, Mr. Kuhlmey specialized in Exposure- and Credit Risk Management. Starting his career in Europe, he worked in various functions with Deutsche Bank, including as a member of a Divisional Board Member team based in Frankfurt, Germany, before coming to New York. Mr. Kuhlmey received his degree in Business Law from the University of Applied Sciences in Lüneburg, Germany, and a Diploma in Finance and Banking from the Hannover Business School, Germany. As a native German, he is proficient in spoken and written German. Mr. Kuhlmey holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 licenses. He is an avid blogger and a frequent contributor to WealthManagement.com, The Huffington Post, and Chuck Jaffe’s MoneyLife podcast.
