Mercedes Soler

Mercedes Soler es presentadora de NotiMujer, un programa en vivo y diario para mujeres de habla hispana en los Estados Unidos y América Latina.

Soler se unió a CNN en Español en octubre de 2010 tras haberse desempeñado como reportera, columnista, autora, comentarista de radio, productora y directora, en lo que ha sido una carrera prolífica de más de dos décadas. Durante 18 años ejerció como corresponsal principal y presentadora de Univisión, y ha viajado extensamente por Estados Unidos y América Latina para realizar investigaciones periodísticas y cubrir un sinnúmero de eventos noticiosos.

A lo largo de su carrera ha entrevistado a personalidades de todos los ámbitos de la vida pública, entre los que se cuentan una decena de presidentes latinoamericanos, entre ellos: Arnoldo Alemán y Violeta Chamorro de Nicaragua; Abdalá Bucaram y Gustavo Noboa de Ecuador; Ernesto Samperde Colombia; Alberto Fujimori de Perú; y Miguel de la Madrid de México.

Soler ha cubierto un centenar de noticias de relevancia mundial, como inauguraciones presidenciales, convenciones políticas, visitas del Papa, las tragedias de los transbordadores espaciales y los actos terroristas del 11 de septiembre de 2001, así como los funerales de luminarias como Celia Cruz y María Félix.

Su labor ha sido reconocida por varias organizaciones periodísticas, incluyendo la Asociación Nacional de Artes y Ciencias de la Televisión norteamericana, que la ha nominado para el Emmy en 15 ocasiones, y le ha otorgado el prestigioso galardón cinco veces. Su primer libro, Entre Nosotras de Mujer a Mujer, una colaboración con otras cinco autoras, fue publicado en diciembre del 2005.

Soler se crió entre La Habana, Madrid, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria y Chicago. En ésta última se recibió en comunicaciones, radio, TV y cine de la Universidad de Loyola.

Mercedes Soler is the anchor of NotiMujer in CNN en Español, a daily live television program geared to Spanish-speaking women in the United States and Latin America.

Soler joined CNN en Español in October of 2010 after having been a reporter, columnist, author, radio commentator, producer and director, in what has been a prolific career of more than two decades. During 18 years she served as senior correspondent and anchor for the Spanish-language network Univision, and she has extensively traveled the U.S. and Latin America to cover investigative reports and innumerable news happenings.

Throughout her career Soler has interviewed various high-profile figures from all walks of life, counting among them a dozen Latin American presidents, including Arnoldo Aleman and Violeta Chamorro of Nicaragua, Abdalá Bucaram and Gustavo Noboa of Ecuador, Ernesto Samper of Colombia, Alberto Fujimori of Peru, and Miguel de la Madrid of Mexico.

Soler has covered a centenary of important global news such as the presidential inaugurations, political conventions, Pope visits, the tragedies of the space shuttle and the terrorists acts of September 11, 2001, as well as the funerals of luminaries like Celia Cruz and Maria Felix.

Various journalism organizations have rewarded her work, including the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences of North America that has nominated her 15 times for an EMMY award, and has received five. Her first book, Entre Nosotras de Mujer a Mujer, a collaborator with 5 other authors, was published in December of 2005.

Soler was raised between Havana, Madrid, Las Palmas in the Grand Canaries and Chicago. In the latter she studied communications, radio, TV and film in Loyola University.
