VP/Editor-in-Chief, Women’s Health

Michele Promaulayko is Vice President/Editor-in-Chief of Women’s Health, one of the fastest-growing magazines in the United States. Promaulayko, who has been at the helm since January 2009, has responsibility for all facets of the brand, including the magazine, website, digital apps, books and 12 international editions.

Under Promaulayko’s leadership, Women’s Health has experienced tremendous success on the consumer front with second-half 2010 total paid circulation up 9 percent. This growth came on the heels of an exceptionally strong first half in 2010, where total paid circulation was up 7 percent.

The website, WomensHealthMag.com, has also experienced significant growth, outpacing its competitive set with unique visitors averaging more than 2.5 million per month and appealing to a diverse group of advertisers trying to reach the millions of health-minded, active women with whom Women’s Health is engaging.

Promaulayko authored the popular book "Look Better Naked: The 6-Week Plan to Your Leanest, Hottest, Body -- Ever" and since 2009 has expanded the portfolio of Women’s Health–branded books to include The Women’s Health Big Book of Exercises; Slim, Calm, Sexy Yoga; and The Women’s Health Diet.

In 2011, Women’s Health won its first National Magazine Award for General Excellence in the Fashion, Service, and Lifestyle category. In 2010, the magazine was included for the second time on Adweek’s annual Hot List, securing the No. 2 spot. In October 2009, Advertising Age named Women’s Health “Magazine of the Year,” praising the title for operating as a brand, stating “most magazines say they’re brands too, but Women’s Health is (power) walking the talk.” Both lists recognize magazines for outstanding performance in circulation, advertising, and overall buzz within the industry.

Before joining Women’s Health, Promaulayko was Executive Editor of Cosmopolitan for eight years. Previously, she was one of the original editors of Teen People. Promaulayko has been an expert guest on television programs such as Today, The Early Show, The Rachael Ray Show, CNN, EXTRA, and Fox News.

Promaulayko received a degree in journalism from Rutgers University. She resides in Manhattan and spends weekends on Long Beach Island in New Jersey, where she enjoys stand-up paddle surfing. She’s also an avid snowboarder.
