Girl Scout, 2014 National Young Woman of Distinction

Monique Tinglin was named a Young Woman of Distinction by Girl Scouts of the USA for her Gold Award project “Take Action! Fight Youth Sex Trafficking!” Monique’s service and policy work was aimed to inform people of the magnitude of sex trafficking, inspire the nation to get involved in solving the crisis and prevent future generations suffering the same fate. Monique is from Brooklyn, New York, and is attending American University in the fall. She plans to study an interdisciplinary focus of Communication, Law Studies, Economics, and Government with a minor in Spanish. Monique has been a Girl Scout for 13 years.
