Olivier De Schutter

Former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Food (2008-2014) and Honorary Advisor to Oxfam International

A Professor at the University of Louvain and at the College of Europe (Natolin), Olivier De Schutter is also a Member of the Global Law School Faculty at New York University and was a Visiting Professor at Columbia University in 2008-2012. He was the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food between 2008 and 2014, and has been elected a member of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights for 2015-2018. He served between 2004 and 2008 as General Secretary of the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH) on the issues of globalization and human rights. He was awarded the prestigious Prix Francqui in recognition of his eminent contributions to the sciences in 2013. In 2014, he was offered to serve as Honorary Advisor to Oxfam International.
